Moments of Light Photography

ABOUT US:

Moments of Light Photography is owned and operated by John and Diana Fowler in Gig Harbor, Washington.

John has been involved in photography for over three decades. As a young father with five children, expenses always seemed to exceed the budget. John turned to weddings, family portraits, Bar Mitzvahs, and other events for supplemental income. While that effort was financially successful, it wasn’t how he really wanted to apply his photographic talent. Photography soon became more of a chore than a source of enjoyment and the commercial activities eventually came to an end. John began employment with a major airline in New York. His career progressed rapidly and after thirty-five years with two major airlines he retired as an executive officer in 2001. John’s interest in photography has continued throughout his entire life, but for thirty-five years there was far too little time to seriously pursue it. Since 2001, John has reconnected with that passion, but candidly admits that his first objective is to take pictures of what he finds the most pleasure photographing - outdoors, primarily Wildlife and Nature. No more weddings! He decided to create this website primarily to share his images with others, but he’d be delighted to sell them as well.

Diana's career was equally as active until they moved to Washington in 1991, at which time she turned to volunteer activities such as adult literacy and working with animals. Diana sits on the Board of Directors of the Alaska Raptor Center located in Sitka, Alaska – which specializes in the treatment and rehabilitation of injured raptors, mostly Bald Eagles. She frequently volunteers at the center doing animal husbandry, and animal handling for training, rehab and educational purposes. Diana also volunteers at a local Zoo where she’s involved with educational and craft programs for youngsters, provides tours, and is on the animal handling team. Diana’s natural precise talent and keen eye for art are evident in everything she does – most notably matting and framing.

Their collective respect, appreciation and admiration for animals of all species is the underlying basis for their love of wildlife and the outdoors. We hope you’ll enjoy their work.
