Moments of Light Photography

PRINTS: All images are printed on archival papers with pigment based archival inks. Papers vary in brightness (how white they are). For instance, while one paper may yield a bright crisp print another may produce a softer print with a warmer tone. We select the paper for each image that results in the truest rendition and tone.  Each print is inspected by the photographer before it is released for mounting or shipping. If there are any questions or preferences about paper on a particular print – please contact us.

IMAGES: All of our images are digitally captured. We’re currently using Canon 1D and 1D Mark II Digital SLR bodies with a wide array of Canon L-Series professional lenses.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: The digital darkroom enables an infinite number of ways in which an image can be adjusted. Many veteran photographers still do not consider digital images real photography because of the many ways they can be changed. The fact of the matter is that image correction and manipulation has been possible for years in the chemical darkroom. Cropping, dodging, burning, pushing, coloring, dubbing, and more are all common tasks used in the chemical darkroom. The digital darkroom simply makes all of those tasks easier and much more precise.

We believe that photography is the art and process of producing images that are a likeness of what we see, by capturing a small moment of light. The end result should be an image that pleases and accurately represents the original scene. ALL digital images require some amount of correction – like sharpening for instance. Yes, we do take advantage of computer based image editing to perform basic adjustments to our images. Having said that though, we strive to limit our editing to the same techniques that have been used in the chemical darkroom for decades. Moreover, our promise to you is that we will not use the digital darkroom to alter or manipulate any image such that it then presents something entirely different than what was originally seen through the viewfinder.

PRINT SIZES: Images shown here have been formatted for web presentation. Occasionally some edge cropping occurs. The image you receive will be the full file image. Most often this is a full format image as well, but occasionally we do some cropping for the best composition and presentation. All prints are available as 8x10 (or 8x12) and larger. Dimensions sometimes vary even in the same size category - depending upon composition. For example – the final dimensions of some prints will be 8x10, 11x14, and 13x16, while others may be 8x12, 11x17, and 13x19. Print prices are the same in each print size category. For example, if the finished print is 8x12 the price for the print is the same as if it were an 8x10. Prints smaller than 8x10 are available at special request. Please contact us if you have any questions about print sizes.

LIMITED EDITIONS: Many of our images are designated as limited editions. All limited edition prints are serialized and will be signed and numbered by the original photographer.
